Thank you Mikael De Geer for your comment. You asked a good question and here's the answer. A size class doesn't determine which segues to use. A navigation controller does. A navigation controller manages a stack of view controllers. In turn, a view controller manage and display its view. With that said, to determine which segue to use on a storyboard depends these situations:

If you have two or more scenes on a storyboard and none of them is embed in a Navigation Controller or Tab Bar ControllerI. Use any one of the segue from the "Adaptive Segues" menu to transition from scene A to scene B.

If a storyboard scene is embedded in a Navigation Controller and you added a second scene on the storyboard. Use any one of the segue from the "Adaptive Segues" menu to transition to the second scene.

Finally, If a storyboard scene is embedded in a Tab Bar Controller and you added a second scene on the storyboard. Use the segue from the "Relationship Segue" menu to transition to the second scene. To do this, you'll have to control-drag from scene 1 to scene 2, then select view controllers from the Relationship Segue menu.

Here's a demo application to test above mentioned situations.
